Nithari Case Accused Surendra Koli Dies by Suicide

A post-mortem report has confirmed that Surendra Koli, the primary accused in the 2006 Nithari serial killings, died from asphyxia due to ante-mortem hanging. Koli was found dead on September 18 at a tea stall he operated in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, following his acquittal in all legal cases last year. The Supreme Court had acquitted Koli in November 2025, citing a lack of forensic evidence and significant investigative lapses, including the failure to probe potential organ trade links. His family performed the last rites at the Kharkhari cremation ground in Haridwar on Saturday. The Nithari case gained national attention in 2006 after human remains were discovered in a drain behind the residence of Koli's employer, Moninder Singh Pandher, in Noida.
