NITI Aayog Report Highlights High Youth Unemployment in India

A recent NITI Aayog report titled ‘Reimagining Skilling for Viksit Bharat@2047’ reveals that 8.7 crore Indians aged 15 to 29 were neither studying, working, nor training in 2021. Data from the 78th round of the National Sample Survey identifies this group as NEET youth, highlighting a significant gap in the transition from education to employment. The report notes that only 8.25 per cent of graduates are employed in roles that align with their formal qualifications. Furthermore, students from low-income households face barriers to accessing additional skill development due to financial constraints. The Madhya Pradesh government has also initiated restoration efforts for Buddhist monuments associated with Emperor Ashoka in Vaishy.
