Noida Man Dies By Suicide From High-Rise Over Financial Distress
· India · The Hindu, Hindustan Times
A 25-year-old man identified as Sambhav Jain died by suicide after jumping from a high-rise in Noida's Sector 94 on Saturday. Police stated that Jain, a resident of Manesar, had checked into an Airbnb at the Supernova Society on Friday and was scheduled to leave on Saturday. Preliminary investigations indicate he was under financial distress due to a loan. Before the incident, he was in contact with his father and sent WhatsApp and video messages stating he did not want to live. AC-repair workers in a nearby flat attempted to persuade him to step back from the balcony railing before he fell at around 11:30 a.m.
Why it matters
The incident underscores the urgent need for accessible mental health support and financial counseling systems to address distress caused by debt.
