NSE Could List Its Shares On Its Platform Under Permitted‑to‑Trade Route
· Business · Times of India, Economic Times
NSE may allow its own shares to trade on its platform under a permitted‑to‑trade system that does not require separate SEBI approval. The system lets exchanges let investors trade shares that are listed elsewhere, but the company remains listed on the original exchange. NSE already facilitates trading for over 200 companies whose stocks are not listed on NSE. Other exchanges, such as MSEI and NCDEX, use the same mechanism for around 4,000 securities. If NSE lists its shares on another exchange, it could later open trading of those shares on NSE without a new listing. This would give investors a way to trade NSE shares directly while the company remains listed elsewhere.
Why it matters
Investors would gain a direct trading venue for NSE shares, potentially improving liquidity and access. NSE’s move could also change how the exchange approaches its own public-market launch and regulatory compliance.
