NTA Fires Over 50 Staff, Hires 10 Leaders After Exam Errors

The National Testing Agency dismissed more than 50 staff members and is recruiting ten new professional leaders, including a Chief Technology Officer, Chief Finance Officer, Chief Information Security Officer, and heads of Test Security, R&D, and Psychometrics. The move follows an announcement on Sunday that UGC‑NET papers in English, Commerce and Sociology will be re‑examined after a panel found errors in the question papers. Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi met with Higher Education Secretary Deepti Gaur Mukerjee, NTA Director‑General Abhishek Singh and other officials on Monday to review corrective measures. The ministry directed NTA to enforce reforms, hire domain specialists from the private sector, overhaul the Confidential Operations (CONOPS) architecture, and submit a full audit of exam processes within 30 days.
