Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang lost nearly $15.1 billion in a single day, dropping to 13th from ninth on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index after Nvidia shares tumbled 9% on November 5. The Nasdaq 100 erased $2.5 trillion in market value in its biggest one-day decline since April 2025, with the Nasdaq Composite plunging 5.5%. AMD shares fell 17% in the same session. The sell-off followed Democratic victories in the US midterm elections, which raised fears that incoming governors may impose moratoriums on data centre construction over electricity and water concerns. UBS analysts estimate around 30% of expected US data centre capacity additions in 2028 could be at risk. Elon Musk and Larry Ellison also lost $79.7 billion and $10.1 billion respectively.
