Nvidia in Talks to Increase Stake in or Acquire Reflection AI

Nvidia is in discussions to deepen its financial stake in open-source startup Reflection AI or acquire the company outright. Talks remain at an early stage, with potential deal structures including an acqui-hire arrangement where Nvidia would hire staff and license technology to bypass lengthy regulatory reviews. Reflection AI was founded in 2024 by former DeepMind researchers Misha Laskin and Ioannis Antonoglou. Nvidia is already a major strategic investor in the startup, having previously backed it with $800 million. The startup recently launched its first open-weight model, Beam, to compete with lower-cost coding tools.
