NVIDIA Launches PAIR Tool to Distribute AI Workloads Across Home PCs

NVIDIA has unveiled Personal AI Router (PAIR), a free, open-source tool announced at IFA 2026 that distributes AI workloads across idle PCs on a local network. The tool identifies machines not in use and routes AI subagent tasks to them, preventing competition for a single GPU and avoiding slowdowns on the user's main computer. PAIR is currently in beta for Windows, macOS, and Linux, supporting NVIDIA GeForce RTX 20 Series GPUs and newer, NVIDIA RTX PRO workstation GPUs with Turing architecture, NVIDIA DGX Spark, and Apple M4 chips or newer. NVIDIA cited data showing more than half of US households own two or more PCs that typically sit idle during the day. The tool works through both graphical and terminal interfaces, allowing users to run complex AI tasks such as sorting inboxes without affecting gaming or work performance.
