NVIDIA Shield TV Pro Sees USD 100 Price Hike Amid RAM Crisis
· Technology · Android Authority, Ars Technica
The NVIDIA Shield TV Pro has received a price increase of approximately USD 100 on Amazon and Best Buy, raising its cost to around USD 300. The streaming box, which has remained a popular Android TV device over a decade after its release, is now listed at USD 300.26 on Amazon and USD 299.99 on Best Buy. Industry observers attribute the price surge to an ongoing RAM crisis that has driven up memory and storage costs across the hardware sector. NVIDIA has had to pass these elevated manufacturing costs on to consumers to maintain profit margins. The price jump follows the discontinuation of the lower-priced Shield TV Tube model earlier due to similar component cost pressures.
Why it matters
Consumers face higher costs for one of the market's premier 64-bit Android streaming and emulation devices as memory supply constraints hit hardware pricing.
