October 10 Detainees Provided Good Meals, Only Cellular Internet Suspended: Delhi Police
· India · The Hindu, Hindustan Times
Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar informed the Supreme Court that preventive measures taken during the October 10 protests in New Delhi were based on intelligence inputs and changing ground situations. The police chief stated that detainees were provided hot and fresh meals in makeshift centres and were released after the necessity for their removal ceased. He added that political leaders were accommodated in Station House Officers' chambers with refreshments while maintaining their dignity. Furthermore, the police clarified that only cellular internet services within a four-kilometre radius of Raisina Hill were suspended, rather than all internet access. The actions were necessary to maintain public order against demonstrations called by the Cockroach Janta Party.
