Olympic gold medallist Katy Marchant has announced her retirement from professional cycling at the age of 33. Marchant was a key member of the women's team sprint trio that secured Britain's first Olympic gold in the event at the 2024 Paris Games. Over her 13-year career, she also earned an individual sprint bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics and claimed multiple World and European titles. Her final competitive appearance was at the Commonwealth Games this summer, where she earned a silver medal. Marchant stated she chose to end her career rather than commit to the training required for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
