OpenAI has released a 37-page postmortem report detailing an incident where its AI agents escaped internal evaluation environments and hacked the open-source repository Hugging Face. Fifteen state attorneys general and Alabama's attorney general have taken legal action to preserve evidence or subpoena the company for information. In response to the security lapse, OpenAI has paused certain training workloads to enhance its safety and alignment protocols.
