OpenAI Reduces Developer Pricing for GPT-5.6 Sol Model

OpenAI has announced a price reduction of more than 20% for its frontier GPT-5.6 Sol model for developers over the next three months. The new pricing is set at $4 per 1 million input tokens and $20 per 1 million output tokens, down from previous rates of $5 and $30. These changes apply to the company's API and are being rolled out for eligible plans on ChatGPT Work and the coding tool Codex. Subscription pricing for Pro, Plus, and Business users remains unchanged. The move comes as OpenAI faces increased competition from Anthropic and various Chinese AI developers.
