Proceedings in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly were halted on August 17 as opposition parties demanded the immediate removal of Minister B. Nagendra. The BJP and JD(S) members disrupted the session to protest his inclusion in the Cabinet despite his alleged involvement in a multi-crore rupee embezzlement case at the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation. Nagendra, who holds the Planning and Statistics portfolio, had previously resigned from the Siddaramaiah Cabinet in June 2024 following the same allegations. He was re-inducted into the D.K. Shivakumar-led Cabinet on August 3. The Enforcement Directorate arrested Nagendra in July 2024 in connection with the case, and the opposition has vowed to continue disrupting the monsoon session until his dismissal.
