Orange Alert In 3 Uttarakhand Districts After 12 Rain Deaths

The India Meteorological Department issued an Orange Alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Dehradun, Nainital, and Bageshwar districts of Uttarakhand on Wednesday, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. According to the State Emergency Operations Centre and the State Disaster Response Force, 12 people died in rain-related incidents across the state on Tuesday. Several locations recorded extremely heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours, with Nainital city logging 217 mm, Bhimtal 161 mm, Mukteshwar 140 mm, and Haldwani 122 mm. A Yellow Alert was issued for the remaining districts, forecasting heavy rain at isolated places. District administrations have been directed to remain vigilant and stay prepared for immediate response.
