The Ministry of Home Affairs' Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre has issued an advisory warning Android users about malicious applications disguised as pornographic content. Promoted through advertisements on Facebook and Instagram, these apps are circulated under names such as Night Play, Reloop, Kyss, Vimo, Rivo, Nexo, and Vixa. Once installed, the applications prompt users to download an APK file that requests permissions allowing attackers to take control of the device and facilitate financial fraud. Officials stated that some of these apps also install virtual private networks to route internet traffic for criminal activities while blocking users from uninstalling them through device settings. The National Cybercrime Threat Analytics Unit urges citizens to avoid clicking suspicious links, downloading unknown applications, or sharing sensitive banking credentials.
