Oxygen Cylinder Explodes During Unloading in Okhla, One Dead and Four Injured

An oxygen cylinder exploded while being unloaded from a truck at a godown in Okhla Phase-I on Wednesday morning, killing one person and injuring four others. Police received a PCR call at the Okhla Industrial Area police station around 10.43am regarding the blast at premises D-23. A preliminary inquiry revealed that a Tata 407 vehicle had brought the commercial oxygen cylinders from Ghaziabad, and workers were unloading them when one cylinder fell onto the road and exploded. Mohit Singh, a 35-year-old helper from Jaipur who worked with SM Traders, died at the spot. Four other workers—Umesh, Arvind, Manoj, and Pankaj—sustained injuries and were shifted to the AIIMS Trauma Centre for treatment. The exact technical cause of the explosion is yet to be ascertained, and police are verifying the firm's statutory permissions, licences, and the source of supply.
