Pakistan Deploys Troops to Saudi Arabia Amid Houthi Conflict
· World · India Today, Indian Express
Pakistan has moved to deploy 8,000 troops to Saudi Arabia following intensified Houthi attacks on the kingdom. The deployment follows a tripartite Makkah Defence Agreement signed in August 2026, which mandates mutual defence among partners including Turkiye. Reports indicate that the Pakistan Air Force has already conducted strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen. Field Marshal Asim Munir is managing the deployment while facing internal security challenges within Pakistan.
Why it matters
The deployment marks a significant escalation in Pakistan's military involvement in the regional conflict, potentially straining its own domestic resources.
