Pakistan's PTI To Proceed With September 27 Protest

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has confirmed it will hold a planned protest on September 27 to demand the release of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan. The announcement follows the detention of Khan’s sisters, Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan, and Noreen Niazi, under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance. A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court seeking the immediate release of the three women, arguing that their detention lacks specific justification. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Sohail Afridi stated that the party intends to mobilise workers nationwide despite the ongoing arrests of provincial lawmakers. The party plans to release a detailed protest strategy on September 25.
