A Panama-flagged cargo vessel carrying iron ore from Odisha to Singapore sank in the Bay of Bengal on Saturday. The ship went down approximately 240 nautical miles off the Paradip coast with 24 crew members on board. Most of the crew members are reportedly Chinese nationals. The Indian Coast Guard and the Indian Navy have initiated a rescue operation, and nearby vessels have been alerted to assist. Officials have not yet confirmed the number of crew members successfully rescued.
