Pancreatic cancer’s once daily pill gets US FDA nod: What it means for therapy and India?

The US Food and Drug Administration has approved daraxonrasib, an oral pill branded as Rasonque, for patients with advanced pancreatic cancer that has not responded to previous therapies. This medication is the first to target the RAS protein, a primary driver of the disease. Clinical trial results showed that patients taking the drug achieved a median survival of 13.2 months, compared to 6.7 months for those on chemotherapy. The hazard ratio for death was recorded at 0.40, indicating a significant reduction in mortality risk during the study period. While the results demonstrate a breakthrough, individual outcomes may vary due to potential toxicity or lack of response.
