Independent MP Pappu Yadav sat on a one-day hunger strike at Gardanibagh in Patna on Sunday to support protesting students and research scholars. The demonstrators are demanding the cancellation and re-conduct of the 70th BPSC exam due to alleged marking inconsistencies and frequent question paper leaks. Mr. Yadav criticized the state government for police brutality against protesters and for introducing an unsupportable UPSC mains pattern in state exams. He also highlighted grievances regarding recruitment rules for assistant professors and disproportionate weightage given to the English language. Research scholars have been on a hunger strike at the protest site for 13 days.
