Par Panel Urges Admins to Block Rallies on Exam Days

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education has recommended that district administrations withhold permission for rallies, processions, or public gatherings on days of crucial competitive examinations to prevent traffic disruptions and ensure candidates are not delayed. The panel, headed by Rajya Sabha MP Mukul Wasnik, made the suggestion while presenting its report on reforms to the National Testing Agency to the Rajya Sabha chairman in New Delhi on Friday. The recommendation follows controversy over the NEET paper leak and administrative lapses in the NTA, which triggered nationwide student protests and led to the resignation of former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The committee also proposes amending the Public Examinations Act, 2024 to enforce this directive and ensure law-and-order arrangements are made well in advance.
