· Sports · Indian Express, Times of India
India's Preeti Pal dedicated her second silver medal at the Asian Para Games in Nagoya, Japan, to her late training partner Chirag Tyagi. Tyagi was shot dead in Ghaziabad in May by another para athlete who suspected Tyagi had a role in his disqualification from competitions. Preeti and fellow sprinter Simran Sharma trained alongside Tyagi under coach Gajendra Singh at the JLN Stadium in New Delhi. On Wednesday, Preeti secured silver in the women's 100m T35 final with a time of 13.98 seconds, following her second-place finish in the 200m T35 final. Simran Sharma also added gold medals in the 200m and 100m T12 events during the Games.
Why it matters
