Parliamentary Panels to See Reshuffle as TMC Set to Lose Posts
· India · Indian Express, Hindustan Times
Parliamentary committees are set to undergo a leadership reshuffle affecting six of the 24 panels, with the Trinamool Congress expected to lose two chairperson positions. The changes follow a group of TMC MPs approaching the Lok Sabha Speaker after the West Bengal elections to claim they formed a separate bloc. The parliamentary committee on Commerce, previously headed by TMC Rajya Sabha MP Dola Sen, is likely to go to BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi. The committee on Chemicals, formerly led by TMC MP Kriti Azad, is expected to be headed by Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar. Additionally, Congress MP Digvijaya Singh is being replaced by Mukul Wasnik to head the committee on education, while the BJP has rotated chairpersons across three other committees.
Why it matters
The panel changes shift legislative oversight leadership among political parties following internal realignments in the opposition.
