Passenger Ferry Capsizes Off Coast of Kyrenia, North Cyprus

A passenger ferry carrying approximately 270 people capsized on Sunday afternoon about two kilometers north of the coast of Kyrenia, North Cyprus. Local authorities, including Turkish Cypriot coastguard boats and a rescue helicopter, were immediately deployed to the scene to conduct search and rescue operations. Kyrenia mayor Murat Senkul confirmed the number of passengers on board and described the situation as serious. Additional boats from the coastal area were also dispatched to assist in the emergency response.
