Paul Pogba Leaves Monaco After Contract Termination

· Sports · BBC Sport, Goal.com, France 24

Former France midfielder Paul Pogba has left Monaco after his contract was terminated following just one season with the Ligue 1 club. Monaco stated that the deal ended early because objectives set by both parties were only partially achieved during his time at the club. The 33-year-old made six appearances for Monaco last season, five of which came as substitutes. Pogba joined Monaco last summer after returning to professional football following an 18-month doping ban imposed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. BBC Sport reports that Pogba is attracting interest from Major League Soccer teams, though a hamstring injury sustained at a pre-season training camp in England last week could delay his next move.

Why it matters

The termination of his contract opens a new chapter for Pogba as he seeks to revive his playing career following his return from a doping suspension and a recent hamstring injury.
