A personalized cancer vaccine developed by Merck and Moderna has successfully prevented high-risk melanoma from returning in patients following surgery during a phase three clinical trial. The jab uses mRNA technology to target specific tumor mutations by sequencing a patient's surgically removed tumor DNA, instructing the immune system to attack remaining cancer cells. Administered alongside the immunotherapy drug Keytruda, the combination significantly extended the period patients remained cancer-free compared to Keytruda alone.
