Pilots' Body Seeks Role in Air India Crash Probe

The Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) has requested the civil aviation ministry to formally include its technical submissions in the investigation of the June 2025 Air India crash. The flight, AI171, crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, resulting in 260 fatalities. FIP has asked to be nominated as an independent technical participant if the government proceeds with an external review of the draft report. The pilots' body specifically urged the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau to thoroughly evaluate the electrical systems of the Boeing 787 aircraft involved. The investigation is currently in an advanced stage, with the bureau promising a final report following international consultation.
