Piyush Goyal Praises Russian Minister At BRICS Business Forum

Union Minister Piyush Goyal described Russian Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov as dashing during a light-hearted exchange at the India-Russia Business Dialogue in New Delhi. Speaking at Bharat Mandapam ahead of the 18th BRICS Summit, Goyal quipped that the Russian minister could soon find himself starring in a Bollywood movie as the two nations look to expand audiovisual cooperation. During the economic dialogue, Goyal noted that both countries are fast-tracking a new bilateral investment treaty to provide legal certainty for investors. Discussions also focused on concluding a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union and strengthening local currency settlement mechanisms to reduce payment friction. Goyal urged businesses from India and Russia to achieve a target of $100 billion in bilateral trade and $50 billion in two-way investment by 2030.
