Play Store Now Supports Third-Party Apps On HomeView
· Technology · Android Authority, MacRumors
Apple's new HomeView device now supports third-party audio and video apps, expanding its functionality beyond preinstalled software. The device does not feature an on-device App Store, instead using a CarPlay-like system that mirrors apps from a connected, unlocked iPhone or iPad. It supports up to six users, using camera-based authentication to display personal information and specific app content. Guests can access shared music and photo albums, but personal data remains restricted to authenticated users.
Why it matters
This integration allows users to extend their iOS app ecosystem to a home-based display, creating a seamless transition between mobile and home environments.
