· India · Times of India, The Hindu, India Today

The audit report of the PM CARES Fund shows a final balance of Rs 8,452 crore as of March 31, 2025. Total receipts for the fiscal year 2024‑25 were Rs 8,452.95 crore, up from Rs 7,188.63 crore in 2023‑24. Fixed‑deposit holdings accounted for about 93% of the fund’s assets, totaling Rs 7,846.65 crore; interest earned from these deposits was Rs 469.38 crore, the largest source of income. Domestic donations fell to Rs 479.05 crore from Rs 681.81 crore, while foreign donations fell to 9.28 lakh from 11.35 lakh. Total payments for the year were Rs 87.85 lakh, a sharp decline from Rs 15.60 crore previously.

Why it matters

The fund’s financial performance reflects how emergency relief resources are managed and how much public and foreign contributions influence liquidity. Fixed‑deposit gains that dominate income highlight reliance on low‑risk investments.
