Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Varanasi District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar on Thursday to assess the flood situation in his constituency. The Ganga river's water level reached 70.54 metres at the Rajghat gauge site, exceeding the warning mark of 70.262 metres. The Prime Minister directed the administration to operate on a war footing to provide immediate relief and ensure essential facilities are available at rescue camps. Local officials, including the Police Commissioner, have been inspecting flood-affected areas such as Salarpur and Saraiya to coordinate evacuation and support efforts. The river is currently rising at a rate of 2 cm per hour.
