Pocognoli focus on Scotland tidy-up as Euros loom
· Sports · BBC Sport
Scotland manager Sebastien Pocognoli plans a "clean-up job" rather than radical changes for the upcoming Nations League double-header against North Macedonia and Switzerland. This follows a disappointing 3-0 home defeat to Switzerland and a second straight Hampden loss to Slovenia, which captain Andy Robertson described as being "outfought" and "not good enough." Pocognoli's latest squad sees the return of Scott McTominay, Che Adams, and Kieran Tierney, with James Penrice earning his first call-up. The manager stated he was happy with the initial camp and aims for continuity, despite the recent scrutiny over results.
Why it matters
Pocognoli faces pressure to secure positive results in the upcoming matches to restore confidence among players and supporters, especially after recent home defeats raised questions about the team's approach and squad composition.
