Ram Gopal Varma’s new film Police Company was halted for two hours on its first day of shooting after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) stepped in over the director’s unpaid dues. FWICE had pursued the matter since 2017, asserting the director owed more than Rs 1 crore to technicians and workers who worked on his 2018 film Officer. The intervention happened when producers Bhushan Kumar and Parag Sanghvi had agreed to settle but the payment had not yet been processed. After the outstanding Rs 1.32 crore was paid, filming resumed and the brief delay did not disrupt the project’s schedule, which aims to finish by the end of the year. The film stars Harshvardhan Rane in the lead, with Fardeen Khan, Saurabh Shukla, Paresh Rawal and Makarand Deshpande in supporting roles.
