Pranavi Urs, a 23-year-old from Mysuru, became the first Indian woman to win an individual golf gold medal at the Asian Games. She stated that golf is not truly a rich man’s sport, challenging its common perception. Urs expressed that her medal brings greater attention to golf in India and supports growing the sport globally. She highlighted progress in women’s golf, noting five Indian women now have full status on the Ladies European Tour compared to just one or two a few years ago. Urs also won the IGPL Invitational Mumbai in December 2025, becoming the first Indian woman to win a professional open-field tournament against male golfers. Her Asian Games campaign additionally contributed to a team silver medal alongside Aditi and Diksha Dagar.
