Jan Suraaj Party chief Prashant Kishor is holding a meeting of party supporters in New Delhi on Sunday to establish a steering committee and build a local unit structure ahead of the upcoming Delhi assembly elections. The expansion marks the party's first major step outside Bihar, where it contested 238 of 243 seats in the November 2025 assembly elections without winning any seats before Kishor won the high-profile Bankipur bypoll in August. The party is targeting Delhi's substantial Purvanchali population, whose members trace their roots to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Organisers are currently finalising a location for the party's official Delhi office space. The steering committee will serve as a precursor to establishing the formal party unit in the national capital.
