Praveen Kumar Wins Gold, India Takes 1-2 in Para High Jump
· Sports · Times of India, Indian Express
Praveen Kumar cleared 2.05 metres to win gold and set a Games record in the men's high jump T44/64 at the Asian Para Games 2026 on Wednesday. Fellow Indian Banti claimed silver with a personal-best 1.92 metres, while Uzbekistan's Temurbek Giyazov took bronze at 1.86 metres. The T44 and T64 categories were combined to ensure sufficient competitors; T64 athletes use a prosthetic lower limb, while T44 athletes have lower-limb impairments but run without prostheses. India's one-two finish adds to its medal tally at the Games.
Why it matters
The double podium boosts India's para-athletics momentum at the Asian Para Games and highlights depth in the high jump T44/64 category.
