Pregnant Bangladeshi Woman Gives Birth in Bengaluru Detention Before Deportation

A 22-year-old pregnant Bangladeshi woman detained under Bengaluru City Police's Operation Mukta gave birth to her second daughter at a temporary facility in Bengaluru Rural district. Asma Khatoon was traced by the Parappana Agrahara police station on August 17 and later shifted to the Shakti Sadhana Sarvodaya Service Society facility following Foreigners Regional Registration Office directions. She delivered a baby girl on August 24 and subsequently received post-delivery treatment at Ghosha Hospital in Shivajinagar before being discharged on August 28. A woman police constable, Sheela, was assigned to look after Khatoon and the newborn while personnel provided food and medical assistance. Following an FRRO order, the mother and her nine-day-old baby were escorted alongside 31 detained Bangladeshi nationals on a train to Malda for handover to West Bengal authorities.
