Social media influencer Manjeet Kaur was nearly seven weeks pregnant when she died from severe burn injuries in Chandigarh on August 26, 2026. According to her mother's police complaint, Kaur was abducted from Sector 34 in Chandigarh by two acquaintances, Shubhi and Pinda, and taken to a forested area near Morinda. The suspects allegedly tied her to a tree and set her on fire before another acquaintance extinguished the flames with a blanket. Kaur died during treatment at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh nearly two months after the attack. Police have booked the suspects for kidnapping and murder, and are investigating the incident alongside an alleged delay by local police in recording Kaur's dying statement.
