Pregnant Police Constable Attacked With Iron Rod in Bengaluru

A pregnant woman police constable was severely injured after being attacked with an iron rod inside the Majestic Railway Police Station in Bengaluru in the early hours of Wednesday. The victim, identified as constable Shilpa, was sleeping on a desk when the accused, Gajendra, struck her on the head multiple times. Preliminary investigations indicate Gajendra had earlier visited the station claiming to have lost a mobile phone, and returned to carry out the assault after being told to come back in the morning. Shilpa sustained serious injuries requiring 23 stitches and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. Railway police have taken the accused into custody, while the victim's family has accused senior officials of duty negligence for assigning night sentry duty to a pregnant employee.
