Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has clarified that his upcoming film, Khalifa, is a family drama rather than an out-and-out action movie. Speaking at a pre-release event in Dubai, he stated that while the film features action sequences, they are driven by the central character's conflicts and circumstances. The movie marks a reunion between Prithviraj and Mohanlal, who plays the character Mambarakkal Ahmed Ali. Prithviraj also suggested that the film serves as an introduction to a larger story, hinting at the possibility of a sequel. Khalifa is scheduled for a worldwide release on August 20, coinciding with the Onam festival.
