Professor And Five Students Arrested In Chhattisgarh Paper Leak Case
· India · The Hindu, NDTV, Indian Express
Police in Chhattisgarh's Durg district have arrested a private college professor and five students in connection with the leak of an Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya entomology question paper. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Smruthik Rajanala, 38-year-old professor Yogesh Sonkesariya used an endoscopic camera to capture images of the question paper inside a sealed envelope before sharing them with co-accused individuals. The second-year B.Sc. Agriculture entomology examination, scheduled for August 20, was cancelled after 1,500 students across various IGKV-affiliated colleges were affected by the breach. Investigators alleged that the same accused group was also involved in leaking another examination paper on August 7. The university administration lodged a police complaint after receiving an email alert about the leak from the Agriculture College and Research Centre at Kawardha.
Why it matters
The arrest exposes severe vulnerabilities in university examination security systems, affecting thousands of agriculture students whose exams face repeated cancellations.
