· India · LiveMint, Indian Express
A planned protest by the Cockroach Janata Party at Jantar Mantar in Delhi has caused widespread transport and business disruptions across the national capital. Surge pricing on ride-hailing apps like Ola and Uber reached three to four times normal rates in parts of South Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram, with cab fares for an 8-kilometre trip hitting ₹1,200. Authorities closed entry and exit gates at 45 Delhi Metro stations, including Rajiv Chowk and New Delhi, from Friday night until Saturday evening. Commercial markets in Central Delhi such as Connaught Place, Palika Market, Janpath, Khan Market, and Karol Bagh faced closures over security concerns. Delhi Police advised commuters to avoid unnecessary travel through the central district.
Why it matters
