Shivajinagar in Pune received 17.1 mm of rain on Monday evening, marking the first double-digit rainfall reading since August 2. The last such reading was 30.3 mm on August 1, followed by a sharp drop to 1.5 mm the next day. This ends a 58-day spell of single-digit rainfall, the second longest since 2014, after a 64-day dry spell in 2018. Rainfall was uneven across the city, with NDA recording 15 mm, Pashan 2 mm, and Hadapsar 1 mm, while areas like Chinchwad and Koregaon Park saw no rain. The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds for Pune and surrounding Ghats over the next three days. Despite the rain, temperatures remained high, with Shivajinagar recording a maximum of 33.4°C and minimums ranging from 18.4°C in Pashan to 22.5°C in Koregaon Park. Maharashtra faces a 19% deficit in cumulative rainfall as of September 28, though Pune district still has a 14% surplus for the season.
