Although a rent controller initially granted the eviction in 2021 under Section 13 B of the East Punjab Urban Rent Restriction Act, the tenant successfully challenged the order in the High Court. The court's decision, delivered on September 7, 2026, allows the tenant to continue occupying the premises. The legal dispute arose after the landlord, who had rented the house for Rs 20,000 per month, attempted to regain possession.
