Punjab Physics Teacher Dinesh Kumar Wins National Award for Virtual Lab

Dinesh Kumar, a 52-year-old physics teacher in Patiala, has been selected for the National Award for creating a computer-programmed Virtual Physics Lab. President Droupadi Murmu will honour him in New Delhi on Teacher's Day on September 5. Kumar has a PhD in Physics and has taught for over a decade at the 120-year-old Government Victoria Girls Senior Secondary School in Patiala. He developed the virtual lab to help students perform practical experiments when physical apparatus is unavailable. More than 50 of his former students are currently pursuing higher education in engineering, pharmacy, and nursing.
