Punjab Police, in coordination with central agencies and international partners, successfully extradited Amritpal Singh, alias Amrit Dalam—a key operative of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang—from the Republic of Moldova on September 12, 2026. The operation, codenamed *Operation Eastern Reach*, spanned six months and involved sustained intelligence-led surveillance by the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and the Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell (OFTEC). Dalam is wanted in multiple cases, including murder, attempt to murder, UAPA violations, Arms Act offences, and narcotics-related crimes. Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yaday called it a historic milestone, marking the first extradition secured by Punjab Police from a European country. The Moldovan, Azerbaijani, and Indian authorities, along with the CBI and MEA, played crucial roles in the cross-border effort.
