· India · Indian Express, Times of India, The Hindu

Punjabi social media influencer Manjit Kaur died at a Chandigarh hospital on August 26, weeks after being kidnapped and set on fire. Her mother, Kanta Devi, alleged that two acquaintances named Shubhi and Pinda abducted Kaur on July 3 and took her to Morinda, where she was tied to a tree and burned. Kaur was initially treated in Morinda before being transferred to Max Hospital in Mohali and later to PGIMER in Chandigarh. Her family accused the police of failing to record her statement in time, though Kharar DSP Ishan Singla stated that police provided full assistance and facilitated the registration of the FIR. Chandigarh Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from Sector 34 to Morinda to reconstruct the events.
