Purulia Man Arrested After Killing Girlfriend and Transporting Body on Motorcycle

Police in Purulia, West Bengal, arrested 23-year-old Amit Kumar Mahato on Saturday night for the murder of his 20-year-old girlfriend, Pritika Mahato. The accused was intercepted at a police checkpoint on the state highway to Jamshedpur with the victim's body concealed in a sack tied to his motorcycle. Investigators stated the victim's throat was slit, and the murder allegedly occurred in the accused's hostel room while other boarders were away. Amit Kumar Mahato reportedly confessed to the crime, citing suspicions that the victim was involved in an affair with another person. The victim's body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and the accused was produced before a local court on Sunday.
